It is hard to have too much fun, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. The SB-120 lets you be the one to bring your family or friends together on any river. The 18″ tubes give you the same close-to-the water feel as the Storm, but the larger size adds additional stability and tracking; one Rocky Mountain Rafter even rowed one down the entire Grand Canyon with no flips, no swims, and no pins! Three thwarts come standard, meaning that while it is small enough to R2 serious whitewater, you can still fit up to 6 paddlers. However, if you are planning on taking 6 adults regularly, you might want to purchase a SB-130 for the increased buoyancy.

  1. Marty

I bought a 12′ RMR in 2012, and I love it. Stable in the big stuff, agile in the low stuff, and more spacious than I’d thought when I was shopping around. And it’s tougher than a $3 steak! I’ve run it as a paddle raft on day trips and loaded down gear boat on multi-day expedition trips with equal success. I’ve had up to 6 paddlers with no problem. Definitely recommend this boat to anyone, novice -> expert boaters.

  2. Wes Tite

I’ve owned this boat for a couple seasons now. I mostly use it to run class III and IV rivers in Northern Cali. It’s really stable but also nimble, great for creeky rivers with a lot of moves. I’ve had up to 5 paddlers in the boat at one time and even loaded down it still handles very well. I’ve also loaded it down with gear for 6 day trips in Idaho and multi-days in California. It handles the weight of the gear really well, but because it’s a smaller boat you have to be a little more careful with how you rig. The only issue I have is my legs feel slightly cramped when I have the suspended floor in for long trips (3day plus). Because the tubes are smaller than a 14′ boat there is a shorter distance from the oarlocks to the floor of the boat. It’s totally not a big deal, but it did take some time to get used to.

Bottom line is I love this boat and would recommend it to anyone.
