The Roll-Cast: A Complete, Trailer-Free Fishing Raft Package

You asked. We built it. The Rocky Mountain Rafts Roll-Cast is a purpose-built 12-foot fishing raft and frame package for two anglers who want professional-grade features without the cost, storage demands, or transportation requirements of a traditional fishing boat.

Row into remote trout water, travel between lakes, or spend the afternoon casting on a quiet pond. At 50 inches wide, the Roll-Cast is designed to travel in the bed of many full-size pickup trucks without sitting diagonally across the wheel wells. It can also be transported using an appropriately rated roof rack or stored inside many campers and RVs.

The package includes the raft, a West Virginia-built aluminum fishing frame, two removable swivel seats, angled oar towers, two complete 8-foot RMR oars, cam straps, and essential repair supplies.

Why You’ll Love the Roll-Cast

  • No trailer required for many transportation setups
  • Rows with the included 8-foot RMR oars
  • Compatible with a 2–3 hp long-shaft outboard motor
  • Rigid drop-stitch floor for standing and casting
  • Removable padded swivel seats
  • West Virginia-built aluminum frame
  • Self-bailing construction
  • Suitable for rivers, lakes, streams, reservoirs, and ponds
Fishing Performance & Construction

Stable Standing Platform

The removable 6-inch drop-stitch floor creates a firm platform beneath your feet. A textured EVA traction pad adds grip and confidence while standing, casting, entering the raft, or moving between seats.

Lightweight PVC Construction

The raft is constructed from 33 oz, 2,000-denier lightweight PVC. The material was selected to balance durability with manageable transport weight.

Welded Seams and Internal Components

The I-beams, baffles, and seams are welded and reinforced with inside-and-outside welded seam tape. The self-bailing design allows water entering the raft to drain through the floor system.

Purpose-Built Fishing Frame

The frame is built in Fayette County, West Virginia from 6061 Schedule 40 aluminum with 1.25-inch pipe. It was designed specifically around the Roll-Cast rather than adapted from a general-purpose raft frame.

Angled Oar Towers

The angled oar towers position the included 8-foot RMR oars for controlled, comfortable rowing. Each complete oar includes the shaft, sleeve, lock, and blade.

Removable Swivel Seats

Two padded swivel seats provide comfortable positioning for rowing and fishing. Both seats can be removed to make transportation, stacking, and storage easier.

Row or Add a Motor

The rear seat can rotate to support a motoring configuration. Add the Roll-Cast motor mount to use a compatible 2–3 hp long-shaft outboard motor. The motor and motor mount are sold separately.

Is the Roll-Cast Right for Me?

The Roll-Cast is a strong choice if you:

  • Want a complete fishing raft instead of building a setup piece by piece
  • Primarily fish with one other angler
  • Want to avoid purchasing or towing a boat trailer

  • Want the option to row or use a small outboard motor

  • Need substantial cargo capacity for long, fully loaded expeditions
  • Want a permanently assembled boat that remains on a trailer
  • Need a larger raft for a multi-passenger rowing or paddling crew

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the Roll-Cast designed for?

The Roll-Cast is designed for one or two anglers who want a complete, portable fishing platform for rivers, lakes, streams, reservoirs, and ponds. It is especially useful for anglers who want to avoid towing and storing a traditional boat trailer.

Does the Roll-Cast require a trailer?

No. Avoiding the need for a trailer was one of the main goals behind its design. At 12 feet long and 50 inches wide, it is designed to fit in the bed of many full-size pickups without resting diagonally across the wheel wells.

It may also be transported on an appropriately rated roof-rack system or stored inside certain campers and RVs. Always confirm your vehicle’s dimensions, roof capacity, rack capacity, and tie-down requirements before transport.

How much does the Roll-Cast weigh?

The raft weighs approximately 63 pounds. The raft and frame together weigh approximately 125 pounds. Seats, oars, fishing equipment, and accessories can increase the total transport weight.

Can one person use it?

Yes. Although the layout is designed to accommodate two anglers, it can also be rowed and fished solo. The operator should position passengers and equipment carefully to maintain proper balance and control.

How stable is it for standing and casting?

The rigid 6-inch drop-stitch floor provides a firm standing surface. Its textured EVA pad increases traction while casting and moving around the raft. Conditions, loading, current, and passenger movement can still affect stability.

What types of water can I use it on?

The Roll-Cast was designed for fishing on rivers, lakes, streams, reservoirs, and ponds. Its compact shape, self-bailing floor, and inflatable construction allow it to travel through shallows, riffles, and rocky fishing environments.

Is it intended for technical whitewater?

The Roll-Cast is primarily a fishing platform. Choose water conditions that match your rowing experience, equipment, loading, and current river conditions. Contact Rocky Mountain Rafts before purchasing if your primary use involves demanding or technical whitewater.

Can I add an outboard motor?

Yes. The rear seat rotates for use with the Roll-Cast motor mount and a compatible 2–3 hp long-shaft outboard. The motor mount and motor are sold separately.

Why does it require a long-shaft motor?

The motor-mount position is designed around a long-shaft outboard so the propeller reaches the appropriate operating depth. Confirm compatibility with Rocky Mountain Rafts before purchasing a motor.

Is the motor mount included?

No. The Roll-Cast motor mount is sold separately unless it is explicitly included in a selected package or promotion.

What do I still need before going on the water?

Depending on your intended use, you may still need an inflation pump, properly fitted personal flotation devices, an anchor, anchor rope, throw rope, cooler, dry storage, fishing equipment, and other location-specific safety equipment.

Are the anchor and anchor rope included?

No. The frame includes a rear anchor-system pulley and eye bolt, but the anchor and rope must be purchased separately.

Are the oars included?

Yes. The package includes two complete 8-foot RMR oars with shafts, sleeves, locks, and blades.

Does the package include a pump?

No. An inflation pump is not listed as part of the standard package and should be purchased separately.

Can I remove the frame and seats?

Yes. The aluminum frame and both swivel seats are removable. This makes it easier to disassemble the package for transportation, stacking, and off-season storage.

How difficult is assembly?

The Roll-Cast was designed for straightforward assembly with minimal tools. The assembly video above demonstrates frame alignment, seat installation, oar-tower placement, and final setup.

How does the anchor system work?

The frame includes a pulley and eye bolt at the rear for routing an anchor rope. The anchor-system video above demonstrates how to thread and secure the rope for easier deployment and retrieval.

Where is the Roll-Cast frame made?

The aluminum frame is built in Fayette County, West Virginia using 6061 Schedule 40 aluminum and 1.25-inch pipe.

How durable is the raft?

It is built from 33 oz, 2,000-denier PVC with welded I-beams, baffles, and seams. The seams are reinforced with inside-and-outside welded seam tape, while stainless steel D-rings and rubberized handles provide durable attachment and carrying points.

What happens if the raft is damaged?

A patch kit and valve wrench are included for basic field maintenance. The appropriate repair method depends on the location and extent of the damage. Review the RMR user manual or contact the company before attempting a major structural repair.

What warranty is included?

Retail purchases include a three-year warranty on workmanship and materials. Commercial use carries a one-year warranty. The warranty is non-transferable and remains subject to Rocky Mountain Rafts’ complete warranty terms.

Why choose the Roll-Cast instead of building a raft package myself?

A custom setup normally requires selecting a compatible raft, frame, seats, oar towers, oars, locks, blades, straps, and anchor components separately. The Roll-Cast combines the major components in one purpose-built package, reducing compatibility questions and the time required to assemble a complete fishing platform.
