CF-140 CatPhish
CatPhish CF-140: One Raft, More Ways to Use It
The Rocky Mountain Rafts CatPhish CF-140 is a 14-foot inflatable cataraft built for anglers, families, and river travelers who don't want their boat limited to one kind of trip. Fish rivers and lakes, open it up for a family float, or configure it for gear-heavy and multi-day river trips.
Large 23-inch tubes provide a stable foundation while the integrated drop-stitch self-bailing floor creates a rigid, usable platform between them. Stand to cast without adding a separate casting platform, or use the floor to support coolers, dry bags, and other river gear.
The CatPhish can be purchased as a standalone raft, but it was designed to become much more with the RMR Tightline Angler Frame. Starting from scratch? We recommend building the complete CatPhish Angler Bundle so you can pair the CF-140 with its modular fishing frame and your choice of compatible oars.
Important: This listing is for the CatPhish CF-140 raft only. Frame, oars, motor, anchor, and other accessories are sold separately.
Starting From Scratch?
The CF-140 is the foundation of the CatPhish Angler system. The complete bundle pairs it with the modular Tightline Angler Frame and your choice of RMR or Sawyer oars, giving you a coordinated fishing setup without having to piece the major components together yourself.
Already have a compatible frame and oars? Buy the CatPhish raft here. Need the complete fishing setup? Build the Angler Bundle and save compared with purchasing the components separately.
Build Your CatPhish Angler BundleWhy You’ll Love the CatPhish
The CatPhish was designed around versatility. Instead of owning one boat for fishing, another for family floats, and another for bigger river trips, the CF-140 gives you one inflatable platform that can be configured around the trip you're planning.

- Large 23-inch tubes
- Rigid drop-stitch floor you can stand on
- Self-bailing design
- Stable platform for fishing and recreation
- Usable floor space for coolers, dry bags, and gear
- Compatible with multiple frame configurations
- 40 D-rings for flexible rigging
- Approximately 80 lbs as a standalone raft
- Packable inflatable design
- Built for lakes, rivers, fishing, family floats, and multi-day trips
Built for Fishing, Floating & Multi-Day Trips
A Floor You Can Actually Use
Traditional catarafts leave the space between the tubes open. The CatPhish incorporates a drop-stitch floor that creates a rigid, standable surface between them.
For anglers, that means you can stand and cast without adding a separate casting platform. For recreational and multi-day trips, it creates useful space for coolers, dry bags, tackle, and other equipment.
23-Inch Cataraft Tubes
Large 23-inch tubes form the foundation of the CF-140 and contribute to its stable, load-friendly design. The cataraft layout keeps the integrated floor and carried equipment positioned above the waterline.
Fish It
Pair the CF-140 with the Tightline Angler Frame to transform the standalone raft into RMR's modular fishing system. The rigid floor provides stable footing for casting while leaving usable space for tackle, coolers, and other fishing equipment.
Take the Family
With the appropriate frame configuration, the CatPhish can transition from a dedicated fishing setup to a more open recreational layout. Remove fishing-specific frame components when you want additional room for passengers, kids, a dog, or river gear.
Load It for Bigger Trips
The CF-140 can also be configured for gear-intensive and multi-day river travel. Its rigid floor provides additional usable cargo space for dry bags, coolers, and expedition equipment that would normally need to be suspended entirely from a cataraft frame.
40 D-Rings for Rigging
Forty D-rings provide numerous attachment points for frames, straps, equipment, and different rigging configurations as the way you use the boat changes.
Is the CatPhish Right for Me?
The CF-140 is a strong choice if you:
- Want one raft that can serve more than one purpose
- Fish both rivers and flatwater
- Want a rigid floor for standing casts
- Want usable floor space for coolers, dry bags, and gear
- Need a boat that can transition between fishing and family trips
- Want the ability to change frame configurations later
- Plan to build a modular fishing setup
- Want an inflatable alternative to a permanently rigged fishing boat
- Need enough versatility for day trips and multi-day river travel
Consider another RMR model if you:
- Want a smaller, simpler two-person fishing package
- Don't need the cargo space or versatility of a 14-foot cataraft
- Prefer a conventional round-raft layout instead of a cataraft
- Want a complete fishing package that requires fewer configuration decisions
For anglers who want a smaller complete package focused primarily on two-person fishing and easy transportation, the RMR Roll-Cast may be a better fit.
Raft Only vs. CatPhish Angler Bundle
Buy the CatPhish Raft Only If:
- You already own a compatible frame
- You already have compatible oars and rowing equipment
- You want to build your own custom frame configuration
- You need the CF-140 as a replacement or standalone raft
- You specifically want to select every component separately
Choose the CatPhish Angler Bundle If:
- You're building your CatPhish setup from scratch
- You want the purpose-built Tightline Angler Frame
- You need oars to complete the setup
- You want the ability to row and fish from a coordinated system
- You want the Tightline frame's motor-compatible configuration
- You want to avoid compatibility guesswork
- You want to save compared with purchasing the bundle components separately
What Can I Add in the Bundle?
The CatPhish Angler Bundle starts with the CF-140 and lets you build out the major components of your fishing setup.
- CF-140 CatPhish raft
- Modular Tightline Angler Frame
- RMR oars or your choice of available Sawyer oars
The Tightline Angler Frame
The CatPhish raft does not include a frame, but the CF-140 was designed to pair with RMR's modular Tightline Angler Frame for customers who want to build a complete fishing platform.
Rear Guide Frame
The rear section creates the guide or rowing position and incorporates the motor-mount area into the frame system.
Optional Front Angler Frame
Add the front fishing section to create a dedicated position for a second angler. Because the frame is modular, the front section can be removed when you want a more open layout.
Off-the-Bow Anchor Compatibility
The Tightline system is designed around an anchor configuration that operates from the bow. Moving the anchor system forward helps preserve the rear of the frame for fishing, rowing, and motor configurations.
Add a Motor
The Tightline frame incorporates an aluminum and polyurethane motor mount. It can accommodate a trolling motor or an outboard motor up to 8 horsepower. RMR recommends a long-shaft outboard for the motorized configuration.
Change the Layout
The modular design allows the frame arrangement to change with the trip. Use the complete fishing configuration, remove the front angler section for additional passenger space, or reposition the guide frame for a different rowing and cargo layout.
The Tightline Angler Frame, motor, battery, anchor equipment, and oars are not included with this raft-only listing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly am I buying on this page?
This listing is for the RMR CatPhish CF-140 inflatable cataraft only. The Tightline Angler Frame, oars, motor, anchor system, and other accessories shown in some photos or videos are sold separately.
Who is the CatPhish designed for?
The CatPhish is designed for people who want one inflatable platform capable of serving several roles. It can be configured for fishing, recreational floating, family trips, gear hauling, and multi-day river travel rather than being limited to a single specialized use.
Why is it called a cataraft if it has a floor?
The CF-140 uses two large cataraft-style tubes but adds an integrated drop-stitch floor between them. That gives you the stability and layout advantages of the cataraft platform while creating a usable floor for standing, passengers, and equipment.
Can I stand and fish from the CatPhish?
Yes. The rigid drop-stitch floor creates a standable platform between the tubes, eliminating the need for a separate casting platform for normal fishing use.
Can I put a cooler or dry bags directly on the floor?
Yes. One of the advantages of the integrated floor is the ability to use it for coolers, dry bags, tackle, and other equipment instead of suspending every piece of cargo from the frame.
Is the CatPhish only for fishing?
No. Versatility is one of the main reasons the CF-140 was developed. With the appropriate setup, it can transition between fishing trips, family floats, recreational river use, flatwater, and multi-day river travel.
Can I take kids or a dog?
The CatPhish can be configured with open floor and passenger space for recreational trips. Passenger capacity, loading, water conditions, and safety equipment should always be considered before launching.
How much does the raft weigh?
The standalone CF-140 weighs approximately 80 pounds. Frames, oars, coolers, motors, batteries, anchors, and other equipment will increase the total assembled and transport weight.
Does the frame come with the CatPhish?
No. This is the raft-only listing. The Tightline Angler Frame is sold separately or can be selected as part of the CatPhish Angler Bundle.
Do oars come with the raft?
No. Oars are not included with this raft-only listing.
What frame is designed for the CatPhish?
RMR designed the modular Tightline Angler Frame to pair with the CF-140. It can be configured with a rear guide section and an optional front fishing section depending on how you intend to use the boat.
Can I use my own frame?
The CF-140 can accommodate different frame configurations, but dimensions and attachment points should be checked carefully before using a third-party or custom frame. If you're starting without an existing frame, the Tightline system removes much of the compatibility guesswork.
Should I buy the raft or the complete bundle?
If you already own compatible frame and rowing equipment, purchasing the standalone CF-140 may make the most sense. If you're starting from scratch and want a fishing setup, RMR recommends the CatPhish Angler Bundle because it lets you pair the raft with its purpose-built Tightline frame and compatible oars while saving compared with purchasing the bundle components separately.
What comes with the CatPhish Angler Bundle?
The bundle starts with the CF-140 raft and allows you to pair it with the modular Tightline Angler Frame and your choice of available RMR or Sawyer oars. Available options may change, so review the current bundle builder before ordering.
Can the CatPhish use a motor?
Yes, when equipped with the appropriate Tightline frame and motor-mount configuration. Motor capability comes from the optional frame system and is not part of the standalone raft itself.
What size motor can I use?
The Tightline frame's motor-mount configuration is designed for trolling motors or outboards up to 8 horsepower. RMR recommends a long-shaft outboard when using a gasoline motor. Always confirm the complete setup and operating requirements before installation.
Can I use a trolling motor?
Yes. With the appropriate Tightline frame configuration, a trolling motor can be used. A battery can be secured to the frame or deck using an appropriate mounting and tie-down method.
Does the CatPhish include a motor mount?
No. The motor mount is associated with the optional Tightline frame system and is not included with this raft-only listing.
How does the anchor system work?
The Tightline Angler Frame is designed to support an off-the-bow anchor configuration. Moving the anchor operation toward the front leaves the rear of the frame available for the guide position and optional motor setup.
Is an anchor included?
No. Anchor equipment is not included with the standalone CatPhish raft.
Can I change the frame layout?
Yes. Modularity is one of the main advantages of the Tightline system. The front angler section can be removed for a more open passenger configuration, and the guide frame can be repositioned for different rowing and cargo layouts.
Can I use the CatPhish for multi-day trips?
Yes. The 14-foot platform, large tubes, usable floor, and configurable frame layout make the CF-140 suitable for multi-day river setups when properly rigged and loaded for the conditions.
Is the CatPhish self-bailing?
Yes. The CF-140 uses a self-bailing floor system so water entering the boat can drain rather than collecting in the interior.
How much rigging flexibility does it have?
The CatPhish includes 40 D-rings, providing numerous attachment points for frames, straps, cargo, and different equipment configurations.
Can I build the fishing setup later?
Yes. You can purchase the CF-140 as a standalone raft and add compatible frame, oars, and fishing equipment later. If you already know you want the complete fishing configuration, however, the Angler Bundle is the simpler and more economical starting point.
What's the easiest way to build a complete CatPhish?
Use RMR's CatPhish Angler Bundle. It lets you start with the CF-140, choose the Tightline frame configuration, and select compatible RMR or Sawyer oars without having to determine every major component independently.
Ready to Build the Complete Setup?
Start with the CatPhish and configure the frame and oars around the way you plan to fish.
