Big crew. Big gear. Long trip. The RMR SB-160 is the largest standard raft in the SB family, built for extended overnights, heavy gear loads, fishing setups, and groups that need substantially more room than a 13- or 14-foot boat can provide.

Best for: extended multi-day trips, big gear loads, larger groups, full rowing frames, fishing and camping combinations, and boaters who prioritize capacity and comfort over compact size.

The Gear Boat of the SB Family

At 16 feet long and 7'8" wide, the SB-160 gives you the space to build a serious river setup. Its 22-inch main tubes and large self-bailing floor provide the platform for coolers, dryboxes, camping gear, passengers, and a full rowing frame.

RMR specifically positions the SB-160 as a gear rig for fishing, camping, floating, and extended overnight trips. This is the boat to look at when the question is no longer "Can I fit everything?" but "How do I want to organize it?"

Traditional I-Beam Self-Bailing Floor

The SB-160 uses a traditional I-beam self-bailing floor. Welded I-beams create the floor structure while the self-bailing design allows water to drain from the raft.

This version is the better fit for boaters who want the large 16-foot platform with a conventional whitewater raft floor rather than the firmer, flatter feel of the SBDS-160 drop-stitch model.

Built for a Full 4-Bay Frame

The SB-160 comes standard with two removable thwarts, but its size and rigging points make it especially well suited to frame use.

RMR offers a dedicated 16-foot frame package for the SB-160 and SBDS-160, giving you the room to build around rowing, large coolers, dry storage, passengers, fishing gear, and extended-trip equipment.

SB-160 vs. SB-140

The biggest difference is capacity.

Choose the SB-140 if you want a full-size raft with good gear capacity that remains easier to manage for everyday trips.

Choose the SB-160 if larger groups, more camping gear, extended trips, and maximum frame space are regular parts of the plan.

The 16-footer gives you more room, but that also means more boat to transport, store, rig, and move around off the water.
