SBDS-140 14' Drop-Stitch Raft
RMR's full-size 14-footer, with a floor built for standing, fishing, and hauling gear. The SBDS-140 takes one of RMR's most popular raft sizes and adds a fully encapsulated, laced-in drop-stitch floor for a firmer walking surface, more usable interior space, and a platform that naturally fits fishing, rowing, and multi-day gear boating.
The Popular 14-Foot Platform, Built for More Gear
At 14 feet long, 7'1" wide, and built around 20-inch tubes, the SBDS-140 has the room to handle larger crews, substantial river gear, and a full frame without stepping up to the size of the SBDS-160.
It can still be run as a paddle raft with the three included removable thwarts, but the drop-stitch floor makes this version especially attractive for anglers, rowers, and multi-day boaters.
Fully Encapsulated, Laced-In Drop-Stitch Floor
RMR uses a fully encapsulated, laced-in drop-stitch floor instead of a loose floor insert. Thousands of internal threads let the floor hold its shape at higher pressure, creating a firm, flatter surface inside the raft.
RMR says the drop-stitch floor helps the raft ride higher, run shallower sections, turn more easily, and leave more usable interior room than a traditional I-beam floor.
The firmer surface also makes it easier to stand, walk around the boat, organize gear, and cast without relying on a separate elevated casting platform.
Made for Fishing and Multi-Day Frames
The SBDS-140 is where the drop-stitch concept really starts to make sense for gear-heavy boating. The 14-foot hull gives you enough room for a larger frame, cooler, drybox, passengers, and overnight gear while the firm floor creates a more usable interior platform.
RMR's dedicated 4-bay frame package lets you build the boat around rowing, fishing, or multi-day use.

SBDS-140 vs. SB-140 I-Beam
Both boats use the same 14-foot platform. The main decision is how you want the floor to behave.
Choose the SBDS-140 when fishing, standing, gear organization, shallow-water use, and a frame-heavy setup are the priorities.
Choose the SB-140 I-beam when you want a more traditional whitewater floor and your use leans more toward paddling and conventional raft handling.
SBDS-140 vs. SBDS-130 and SBDS-160
The SBDS-140 is the high-capacity middle ground in the drop-stitch lineup.
Choose the SBDS-130 if you want a more compact all-around platform that is easier to manage.
Choose the SBDS-140 when larger crews, a 4-bay frame, multi-day gear, and fishing space are regular parts of the plan.
Choose the SBDS-160 when maximum gear and passenger capacity matter more than keeping the boat compact.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the SBDS-140 best for?
It is especially well suited to anglers, rowers, families, and multi-day boaters who want a large, stable platform with a firm floor for standing, moving around, and organizing gear.
Why is a 14-foot drop-stitch raft useful for multi-day trips?
The 14-foot hull provides more room for passengers and equipment than the smaller SBDS models, while the drop-stitch floor takes up less interior space and creates a firmer platform for gear.
Is the SBDS-140 good for fishing?
Yes. The firm drop-stitch floor is particularly useful for standing and casting. RMR also notes that the floor can reduce the need for separate casting platforms in many fishing setups.
Should I buy the SBDS-130 or SBDS-140?
Choose the SBDS-130 when you want a smaller and more manageable platform. Choose the SBDS-140 when you regularly carry more people, more gear, or want the additional space of a larger fishing or multi-day frame.
Should I buy the SBDS-140 or SBDS-160?
The SBDS-140 gives you substantial capacity while staying smaller and more manageable than the 16-footer. The SBDS-160 makes more sense when maximum gear and passenger capacity are the primary goals.
What is the difference between the SBDS-140 and SB-140 I-beam?
The main difference is the floor. The SBDS-140 uses a rigid drop-stitch floor that creates a flatter standing surface and more usable interior space. The SB-140 uses a traditional I-beam whitewater floor.
Can I still paddle the SBDS-140?
Yes. Three removable thwarts come standard, so the SBDS-140 can still be configured as a paddle raft rather than being limited to a rowing frame.
Can I put a 4-bay frame on the SBDS-140?
Yes. RMR offers a dedicated 4-bay frame package for the SB-140 and SBDS-140, making the drop-stitch model well suited to fishing, multi-day rowing, and larger gear setups.
What warranty does the SBDS-140 have?
RMR lists a 6-year retail and 3-year commercial warranty on workmanship and materials, subject to the manufacturer's complete warranty terms.
