CT-140 14' Cat Tubes
A versatile 14-foot cataraft platform built to move. The RMR CT-140 Cat Tubes combine 22-inch curved tubes, three independent air chambers per tube, and heavy-duty RockShield PVC construction for whitewater, fishing, day trips, and multi-day river rigs.
The All-Around RMR Cataraft
The CT-140 sits in the sweet spot of RMR's traditional cataraft lineup. At 14 feet long with 22-inch tubes, it provides enough flotation and rigging space for serious river trips while remaining smaller and more responsive than the 16-foot version.
RMR's matched 14-foot cat frame is designed specifically around these tubes to create a balanced rowing platform for whitewater, fishing, and gear hauling.
Why Cat Tubes?
A cataraft puts two independent pontoons under a rigid frame instead of surrounding the rower with a full raft floor and tube.
RMR designed the CT-140 around quick response, tracking, and useful frame space. The curved tube profile keeps the ends of the boat clear of the water while the frame ties the two tubes together into a configurable rowing platform.
That makes the CT-140 a strong option for boaters who value precise rowing and a frame-centered setup.
Three Air Chambers Per Tube
Each CT-140 tube contains three independent air chambers.
RMR specifically highlights this design as an additional level of redundancy compared with cat tubes that use two chambers. If one chamber is damaged, the remaining chambers provide additional flotation while the problem is addressed.
Built Around a Frame
Cat tubes are only one half of a cataraft. RMR offers a dedicated 14-foot cat frame designed to match the CT-140 and create the spacing, rowing position, and structure needed for a complete rig.
The package can then be configured around the trip: a straightforward rowing setup for day runs, fishing equipment, or additional gear for longer trips.
Build a CT-140 Cataraft PackageCT-140 vs. CT-160
Both use the same basic RMR cat-tube concept, but size changes the job each boat does best.
Choose the CT-140 when responsiveness, a smaller overall rig, technical maneuvering, and moderate gear capacity matter most.
Choose the CT-160 when larger loads, extended multi-day trips, more buoyancy, and a bigger frame platform outweigh the advantages of the smaller 14-footer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the CT-140 tubes sold individually or as a pair?
They are sold as a pair. One purchase includes both 14-foot cat tubes.
Who is the CT-140 best for?
The CT-140 is a good fit for rowers who want a versatile cataraft for whitewater, fishing, day trips, and moderate multi-day loads without moving up to a larger 16-foot platform.
What is the advantage of the 14-foot size?
RMR positions the CT-140 around a balance of tracking, responsiveness, and load capacity. Its smaller size makes it the more maneuverable option compared with the CT-160.
Why does each tube have three air chambers?
The independent chambers add redundancy. RMR specifically highlights the three-chamber design as an additional safety margin compared with traditional two-chamber cat tubes.
What is the difference between the CT-140 and CT-160?
The CT-140 uses 22-inch tubes and favors a smaller, more responsive platform. The CT-160 is two feet longer with 24-inch tubes and is designed more heavily around larger loads, bigger water, fishing rigs, and extended multi-day trips.
Do I need a frame?
Yes. These are cataraft tubes rather than a complete boat. A cataraft frame connects the two tubes and creates the rowing and gear platform. RMR offers a purpose-built 14-foot frame and complete package builder for the CT-140.
Can the CT-140 carry gear?
Yes. RMR specifically positions the 14-foot setup for river trips and gear carrying. Buyers regularly carrying heavier multi-day loads may prefer the additional flotation and frame space of the CT-160.
Can I build the CT-140 as a fishing rig?
Yes. The frame-based cataraft design can be configured around fishing equipment and river gear. The 14-foot platform is the more compact option, while the CT-160 provides additional room and flotation for larger fishing and gear setups.
What material are the tubes made from?
The CT-140 uses RMR's 44 oz / 3000-denier RockShield PVC with triple-fused baffles and seams and welded seam tape inside and out.
What warranty does the CT-140 have?
RMR currently lists a 6-year retail warranty on workmanship and materials, subject to the manufacturer's complete warranty terms.
