Built to carry a big paddle crew without becoming a one-season boat. The RMR PK-159 Peak is a 15'9" high-capacity whitewater raft designed with guide and outfitter input for large paddle teams, changing river levels, and commercial-style use.

Best for: large paddle crews, outfitters, guides, big-water trips, changing seasonal flows, and boaters who need passenger capacity without dedicating the raft to only high-water conditions.

Built for Eight Passengers and a Guide

The PK-159 is designed around one of the hardest problems for outfitters: carrying a full crew when the river is high without owning a completely different boat for lower water later in the season.

RMR designed the PK-159 to carry up to eight passengers plus a guide in higher flows. As water levels drop, the recommended approach is to reduce the crew to six paddlers so the raft rides higher and stays more responsive.

That adaptability is the core of the Peak design.

Semi-Diminishing Tube Design

The PK-159 uses a semi-diminishing tube profile rather than the more conventional geometry found on RMR's standard SB boats.

The design is intended to give the raft solid stability and buoyancy when fully loaded while keeping the bow and stern from feeling unnecessarily bulky as crew size and water levels change.

A Commercial Paddle Boat First

The PK-159 occupies a very different place in the RMR lineup than the SB-160. Both are large rafts, but they are built around different jobs.

The SB-160 is primarily positioned as a gear, fishing, camping, and expedition platform. The PK-159 is focused much more directly on moving a large paddle crew through whitewater.

That distinction matters. If passenger capacity and paddle-team use are the priority, the Peak makes more sense. If coolers, dryboxes, fishing gear, and a large rowing frame are the priority, the SB-160 is the more natural fit.

Built for a Full Season

High water and low water ask different things from the same raft. The PK-159 was designed to cover more of that range by changing crew size rather than changing boats.

Loaded with a large crew, it provides the capacity needed for busy, high-water runs. With fewer paddlers aboard, the boat gains lift and maneuverability for lower flows.

PK-159 Highlights

  • 15'9" Peak-series whitewater raft
  • Designed with feedback from experienced river guides
  • Semi-diminishing tube design
  • Built around high-capacity paddle-crew use
  • Capacity for up to 8 passengers plus a guide in higher flows
  • Can be run with a lighter 6-paddler crew as flows drop
  • Designed to stay responsive across changing seasonal water levels
  • PVC construction

PK-159 vs. SB-160

These two boats are close in length but serve different purposes.

Choose the PK-159 when large paddle crews, outfitter-style whitewater trips, and passenger capacity are the main priorities.

Choose the SB-160 when extended overnight trips, heavy gear, fishing, and large rowing-frame setups matter more than paddle-seat capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the PK-159 best for?

The PK-159 is best suited to outfitters, guides, and private boaters who regularly run large paddle crews and want one boat that can remain useful across changing seasonal flows.

How many people can the PK-159 carry?

RMR states that the PK-159 can carry up to eight passengers plus a guide in higher-water conditions.

Why would I run only six paddlers in lower water?

Reducing the crew lowers the total load in the raft, helping it ride higher and stay more responsive when river levels drop.

What does semi-diminishing tube design mean?

It means the raft's tube profile reduces toward the bow and stern rather than maintaining the same full diameter throughout the entire boat. The goal is to retain stability and buoyancy while reducing unnecessary bulk at the ends.

Is the PK-159 designed mainly for outfitters?

The boat was designed with input from guides and with high-capacity paddle crews in mind, so commercial and outfitter use is central to its design. Private boaters who need similar crew capacity can benefit from the same features.

What is the difference between the PK-159 and SB-160?

The PK-159 is more focused on carrying large paddle crews through whitewater. The SB-160 is more strongly oriented toward rowing, gear hauling, fishing, camping, and extended overnight trips.

Is the PK-159 good for fishing?

It can certainly be used on trips that include fishing, but fishing is not the primary reason this raft exists. RMR's SB and SBDS models are better aligned with fishing and frame-heavy setups.

Is the PK-159 only for high water?

No. One of the Peak's main design goals is to remain useful as flows decline. RMR specifically describes using a smaller six-paddler crew during lower-water periods.

Why are there no full measurements listed here?

RMR's current product information does not provide a complete published measurement set for this model. Additional dimensions can be added as confirmed specifications become available.

How much is shipping?
